The Content Treadmill: What Social Media Burnout Is Costing You and Your Business
Based on The Social Media Burnout Cure (September 2026)
For the woman who has posted consistently for years and still can’t connect it to clients or revenue — and whose nervous system is quietly paying the price.
In this talk, Cara makes the case that social media isn’t a marketing problem for most women entrepreneurs — it’s a nervous system problem dressed up as a marketing problem. She walks your audience through the real math of the content treadmill, the advice of why “just post consistently” never lasts, and two frameworks they can use immediately to start building differently.
Your audience will leave with:
• The actual cost of the content treadmill (time, energy, and what’s not getting done while they’re creating)
• Why their nervous system isn’t dysregulated because they forgot to breathe — it’s dysregulated because they’ve been marinating in fear-based content
• The TEA Filter: a simple framework for deciding if any marketing activity is worth their Time, Energy, and Attention
• Business Seasons: a quarterly rhythm that replaces the pressure to perform year-round
• A clear picture of what sustainable marketing looks like — and permission to build it
Format: 30–45 minute keynote or breakout session. Can be tailored for podcasts, virtual summits, or live events.
Best for: Women entrepreneur conferences, blogger and influencer events, podcast communities, and any audience where the majority are using social media to market their business and feeling the weight of it. Especially strong for summits or retreats where the audience is already quietly asking whether the content hustle is worth it. Pairs well with Business Seasons for full-day events.
Speaking Topics
Business Seasons: The Framework for Entrepreneurs Who Are Done Running at Full Speed Year-Round
For the woman who has agonized over her slow months, white-knuckled through her winters, and missed spring energy entirely because she was too burned out 3 months into the year — all because she thinks “stay consistent” means all day every day.
Business Seasons is the framework that changes that. Spring plants, Summer simplifies, Fall reaps, Winter reflects. Four seasons, four modes of operation, and a map for knowing which one you're in, what belongs there, and what to stop forcing until the time is right. In this talk, Cara walks your audience through all four seasons — what to do, what to let go of, and how to start treating feast and famine as a rhythm instead of a report card.
What your audience leaves with:
The Business Seasons framework and how to identify which season they're in right now
What belongs in each season — and what to stop forcing out of season
Why "I'm so inconsistent" is often just an out-of-season business trying to bloom at the wrong time
How to plan a year that accounts for rhythm rather than demanding constant output
Permission to let winter be winter, and to trust what grows from it
Format: 30–45 minutes | Keynote or workshop | Live or virtual
Best for: Women entrepreneur retreats, business planning events, productivity and burnout prevention summits, and any event where sustainable business rhythm is the theme. Pairs well with The Content Treadmill for full-day events.

About Cara // Introduction
Cara Chace is an author and burnout coach helping women entrepreneurs build sustainable, anti-hustle businesses without trashing their nervous systems.
She built what she wishes she’d had when she burned out — when the planners, the productivity hacks, and the color-coded calendars left her more exhausted, more behind, and more resentful than when she started. Through Chaos Detox, her signature course, and her forthcoming book on social media burnout, Cara teaches women how to stop white-knuckling their way through the week and start building a business that fits the life they’re actually living.
She’s the host of the Ditch the Chaos podcast, a 10-year entrepreneur, and a former Special Agent. She lives in Idaho with her family and runs her business with margin, intention, and a deep aversion to hustle culture.

Conversation Starters
A few things to break the ice before we hit record:
Before I became a burnout coach, I was the social media manager for Megadeth. Yes, the metal band. Before that, I was a Special Agent for the federal government. Feel free to ask about either one.
My biggest boundaries moment during my 10 years running a digital marketing agency was when a client messaged my on my first vacation in 4 years. That moment changed everything about how I run my business.
I was diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease in 2022. I decided to shut down my business — and took two years of what I now call a forced winter. It changed what I wanted to teach and my business entirely.
I still use social media strategically. I call it signposts, not stages and it’s intentionally the “B Team” in my overall marketing strategy.
I set out to write a productivity book in 2021, before I had to take a step back from my business. Through the years it took to heal and detox Lyme, I slowly realized the real thread is about burnout from all the productivity/hustle advice we hear as entrepreneurs.
I wanted to be an archaeologist, digging in the dirt around the world, and an author. Instead, I listened to what everyone else told me success looks like and started hoop-jumping for gold stars. It’s taken me my whole adult life to come back to myself and achieve one of those dreams.
My book, The Social Media Burnout Cure, comes out in September 2026. I’d love for your audience to hear about it.
The Book
The Social Media Burnout Cure: How to Ditch the Scroll, Quiet Your Nervous System, and Market Your Business Without the Chaos
Coming September 2026
For the woman running a business who has felt the particular exhaustion of performing for an algorithm while her actual life waits patiently for her attention, and she misses the moments that make memories because she’s too busy framing and filtering them.
The exhaustion she's been trying to organize her way out of — better batching, a new content calendar, a VA, a new strategy — follows her into every system she builds, because the source of it is the platforms themselves, deliberately engineered to feed anxiety and keep her scrolling long after her nervous system is fried.
And the particular shame she's been quietly carrying, the one that sounds like "everyone else figured this out and I somehow missed it" — that was manufactured to keep her producing content for free for a business she doesn’t own.
It’s written from more than ten years of evidence and experience, told in story and framework, to help her build something lasting without the algorithm.
This book is permission to question everything about how social media marketing is used, what it truly does for her business, and how to take back her time, energy, and attention to build a business her own way.
